  1. Dutilar says:
Rory Block had done a number of CDs in her long career and most of them are straight acoustic blues with a little gospel thrown in. This is a typical effort. John Sebastian plays harmonica on "Love My Blues Away" and Block plays acoustic guitar and keyboards on all songs. Block also produced and sang lead and background vocals so this is her 4/5(1).

  3. Meztijin says:
Bye, Bye Blues, a Tommy Johnson tune in standard tuning, showcases percussive string snapping, pounding and string-bending guitar style typical of Delta players of the early 20th Century. Rory closes the session with a stirring performance of Mississippi Blues by Willie Brown, one of the most popular pieces in the blues fingerpicking canon.
  4. Faule says:
The Blues Foundation declared of Block, “She is widely regarded as the top female interpreter and authority on traditional country blues worldwide.” Celeste Friend, executive director of Colorscape, stated, “We are thrilled to bring Rory Block to the stage on Sunday, September 8.
  5. Kajitilar says:
She came from NYC, but Rory learned her blues in the South from two of her greatest heroes: Skip James and Mississippi John Hurt. Here are the key cuts from the ’80s Rounder years that followed: Walking Blues; Travelin’ Blues; Cross Road Blues; Lovin’ Fool; Future Blues; M&O Blues; Ain’t No Way to Do, and more outstanding acoustic blues!
